This past weekend I graduated from Villanova University. I have a lot of health issues and was once told by a faculty member (who was supposed to be helping me) at my high school that I was too sick to go to college and would be lucky if I could make it at a community college; needless to say it felt pretty damn good prove that person wrong. It's been a long five years and college is probably the physically hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but getting that diploma on Saturday made it all worth it! I love Villanova so much and wouldn't give up my experience there for anything. Villanova was the warm, welcoming, and accepting community I so desperately needed after a terrible high school experience. College graduation is always a big accomplishment and very special, but for me it was extra special.
I owe a huge thank you to my parents, my sister, my doctors, and all the amazing people at Villanova who always helped me, I could not have done this without you. I also want to thank my amazing friends who were always there to jump in when I needed anything, I have truly made the best friends ever and could not have done this without them either. I'm never really one to brag about myself, but to be honest I'm so freaking proud that I graduated cum laude and earned my diploma no matter how sick I am, have been, or was during this journey.
My sister and I took these photos last Tuesday right after I picked up my cap and gown. My dress in these pictures, which can be found here, was what I wore to the College of Liberal Arts and Science ceremony on Saturday and you can find the dress I wore to the commencement ceremony on Friday here. We lucked out and the rain held out for us to have our photoshoot, which was so much fun! To see more from my weekend, including how I decorated my cap, check me out on Instagram at @theblushblonde.
